#MobilePortraitofPoles – Women versus men

Does sex determine the way in which we use smartphones? According to #MobilePortraitofPoles (#MobilnyPortretPolaka) of Bank Millennium, men much more often than women use mobile banking in their phones. Depending on gender, there are different motives for use of mobile banking and type of services we choose.
Mobile banking is used by 50% of men and 36% of women. Men use it much more frequently than women do – close to one man out of five and more than one woman out of ten does it every day or almost every day.

Why do we use mobile banking? As the main cause, women give the ability to check your account at any time, men – because with the bank up their sleeve, they may manage finances at any time.

Actions that we perform in the mobile bank application differ depending on our gender. Women more frequently than men pay this way their bills and rent (61% of women vs. 56% of men), they also more frequently pay for their online shopping (77% of women vs. 73% of men). Men more frequently pay with BLIK (44% of men vs. 27% of women), make contactless payments with their mobiles (35% of men vs. 22% of women), they also more frequently top-up their phones through bank application (45% of men vs. 22% of women).

Gender determines also our online choices. It turns out that the real enthusiasts of mobile purchases of consumer electronics are men (46% of men vs. 5% of women). They also purchase much more frequently foodstuffs in the same way (29% of men, 8% of women), sports equipment (33% of men, 9% of women) and household appliances (28% of men, 9% of women). However, women more frequently than men purchase with their mobiles books (50% of women vs. 40% of men), cosmetics (41% of women vs. 25% of men), medicines and diet supplements (17% of women vs. 15% of men).

Gender results also in different use of social media. 11 % more women than men (78% of women vs. 67% of men) use Facebook, also women more frequently post photos in social media (61% of women vs. 53% of men) and more frequently use communicators (65% of women vs. 58% of men).
