Fraudsters are impersonating bank employees – stay alert!

Criminals have changed their modus operandi again – this time they may try to extort cash or even your plastic payment card from you.

A fraudster may call you and claim to be a bank employee. They will inform you of an alleged break-in into your bank account and want to ‘secure’ your money. They will urge you to:

hand over your physical payment card and PIN – either directly to the person claiming to be a bank employee or via a driver (e.g. Uber);
withdraw cash yourself from an ATM - then deposit the money, usually by BLIK, into the specified account (this is not a ‘secure account’, but the fraudster's account).

Always be vigilant when someone asks you for personal information, passwords or PINs over the phone. Do not install unknown applications, do not hand over cash or cards to unknown persons, even if they claim to be bank employees, police officers or representatives of other institutions.

Remember, our employees never ask you to hand over cash or payment cards!
