Bank Millennium is developing contactless payments

Bank Millennium is developing its mobile payments catalogue while withdrawing older solutions from the offer. The Bank announced the discontinuation of the contactless mobile card payment service based on Android platform app.

Bank Millennium shuts down its HCE services – app-based contactless card payments. From 20 April 2024, customers can no longer virtualise their cards or apply for mobile cards, and from 1 July this year, the service will be unavailable and the cards and tokens will be closed. Bank Millennium was the first to implement it in Poland and maintained the HCE technology in its offer for the longest time. Currently, the Bank will focus on the promotion of more modern solutions. Other financial institutions on the market have recently decided to take a similar step.

Customers can use a wide range of alternative solutions – virtual wallets and BLIK contactless payments. When paying with a smartphone, watch or sports band, they can choose from a catalogue of services such as Google Pay, Apple Pay (on iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad) or Garmin Pay. All cards issued by Bank Millennium can be transferred to virtual wallets without the need for the user to have the physical card. Encrypted card data are transferred from the Bank's mobile app. This is extremely important, especially for new customers, who do not have to wait for the physical equivalent of the card to be delivered immediately after opening the account. The offer for Android users also includes the BLIK Contactless Payments service, which enables quick payments with your phone without rewriting the BLIK code and without the need to have a card. It also does not require you to log in to the app, and as the source account you can enter a personal account or a credit card account. In addition, the Bank will soon provide new mobile payment methods.
