Bank Millennium is cinema 360°ambassador
For the second time in the history of Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival documentary film shows will be made in virtual reality technology (VR). This will be an unusual 360° journey to remote places of the world and also into space and ocean depths. The viewers will be able to have these mindboggling experiences in Warsaw, Wrocław and Lublin. The shows will be sponsored by Bank Millennium.
– Bank Millennium is one of the most innovative banks in Poland. New technologies are a pillar of our activity. This is why we are glad that the VR documentaries section is developing and becoming an integral part of the festival. Just as VR cinema, Bank Millennium also has a 360°approach to challenges of the changing reality and this is why we readily invest in innovations for the needs of art and culture – Iwona Jarzębska, Director of the Public Relations Department of Bank Millennium, said.
Last year the 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival involved VR documentary film shows for the first time on such scale at a film festival in Poland. This year the festival will have an additional attraction for the viewers – the launch of the new VRSAWA competition, in which 13 specially selected VR films will compete. The shows will be offered in three locations:
Warsaw 19-20 May, Gagarina Hall in PKiN, entrance from Kinoteka
Lublin 19-20 May, Centre for the Meeting of Cultures
Wrocław 12-13 May, Lower Silesian Film Centre
The film shows are free. Read more about VR films: www.docsag.pl/kino VR.
BANK MILLENNIUM IS AN AMBASSADOR OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN CINEMATIC ART
Bank Millennium has been culturally involved since close to 30 years. Parallel to its business it has been supporting national as well as local cultural activities. The Bank promotes painting, cinematography and music. Both commercial as well as niche projects. Popular and elite. The Bank has been involved with the festival and has been sponsoring Bank Millennium’s Main Award since 2006. In 2016 the Bank became the title sponsor of the event.
The Bank appreciates the convention of the festival, which addresses difficult subjects about problems of the contemporary world such as the environment, economics or human rights as well as openness and the desire to a new different view of reality. In 2016 the festival stepped beyond traditional film art and opened up to new technologies by introducing VR film shows to the festival’s agenda. Virtual reality permits a completely new quality of experiencing image and sound as well as the presented content. Bank Millennium is of the view that this marriage of film art with new technologies will raise interest in the festival and in innovative media.
The 15th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival will take place on 11-20 May in Warsaw and Wrocław; on 16-25 May in Gdynia; on 19-26 May in Bydgoszcz and on 14-21 May in Lublin. From 18 to 20 May in more than 20 cities around Poland (including Łódź, Poznań, Rzeszów, Kraków, Szczecin, Elbląg, Ełk and Katowice) selected festival films will be shown as part of the Weekend with Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival show series.
