Bank Millennium in Respect Index for the tenth time

For the tenth time Bank Millennium is included in Respect Index – index of socially responsible companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Respect Index comprises 28 companies, which include 7 banks. The composition of the index is recruited among biggest public companies from WIG20, mWIG40 and sWIG80 indexes, operating in keeping with best management standards regarding corporate governance, information governance and investor relations, also taking into account environmental, social and economic factors. Companies from this index go through three-tier verification carried out by the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and the Stock Exchange Issuer’s Association (SEG) and are also audited by an independent consulting company. The companies are audited and the index is renewed once a year.

- Being included in the Respect Index for the tenth time is a major reward for us and confirmation that we are a sustainable and transparent company. This is one out of already two indexes of socially responsible companies, which include Bank Millennium. Since 2017 we are also part of FTSE4Good Emerging Index. – Fernando Bicho, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Bank Millennium, emphasised. Our consistency in building a sustainable company is appreciated in Poland and abroad. We have been recognised in the Ranking of Responsible Companies – a list of biggest Polish companies evaluated from the point of view of quality of Corporate Social Responsibility management, and were also awarded the CSR Silver Leaf. Bank Millennium was also acclaimed as Best Bank for CSR in Central & Eastern Europe. The international financial sector magazine Euromoney appreciated us for the transparent we present CSR activity, for diversity and complexity of programmes and first of all for an innovative approach to customers, which makes using Bank Millennium’s services simple and easy to use. – Fernando Bicho added.

In Bank Millennium CSR activities are an integral part of the strategy and support attainment of business objectives. According to 2020 strategy guidelines the Bank is focusing on three groups of stakeholders: customers, employees and local communities.

Actions targeted at customers involve offering banking without physical, infrastructural and digital barriers, offering non-banking digital functionalities e.g. access to e-administration as well as observing ethical sales standards. Programmes for employees concern above all supporting diversity in the organisation (including parenthood), assuring stable and attractive terms and conditions of employment and also offering the opportunity to contribute to social activities. Social programmes are implemented via Bank Millennium Foundation and concentrate on three areas: financial education, cultural education and employee volunteering.

All CSR activities are recapped annual in Bank Millennium’s CSR Report since 11 years. The company also supports UN Sustainable Development Goals. By joining the business and government administration partnership for SDG Bank Millennium declared that it will be acting in particular towards financial education of children and the youth.
