Enhanced security of Millennium cards

Launching the service of cancelling cards via the Internet and mobile applications is important from the point of view of card security. Immediate cancellation effectively limits financial damage in case of theft or loss of the card, which quite conceivable during the EURO 2012 Championships as well as summer holidays - says Ricardo Campos, Director of the Electronic Banking Department in Bank Millennium. 
Cancelling cards through the Internet or phone is another security feature, next to 3D-Secure, which protects from unauthorised use of Millennium cards both in Poland as well as abroad. Cancelling the cards is done quickly, safely and without having to pay anything extra e.g. for mobile roaming charges. Customers can cancel the cards using Millenet, mobile apps for smartphones (iPhone and Android), they can also launch Mobile Millenet (m.bankmillennium.pl) on a cellphone with a mobile browser. For customers' convenience card cancellation made by the Internet or by phone is tantamount to starting the process of issuing a new card. The customer does not have to fill-in any additional applications or forms and send them to the Bank. He will have the new card mailed to him, to his mailing address within a few working days. When the service is introduced, it will be possible to cancel Millennium cards through all Customer contact channels: in branches, Call Center, Internet and mobile banking. Today information about card loss/theft usually reaches the Bank via Call Center. We estimate that after launching the new service, approximately 10% of card cancellations will come from the e-banking and mobile banking channels. 
In the coming weeks Bank Millennium will also be releasing 3D-Secure – the latest security standard for online card transactions. 3D-Secure (Three Domain Secure) uses an additional security feature – authorisation with one time SMSP@sswords. This permits checking immediately if the card was not stolen, lost or blocked for whatever reason. The service guarantees safe online shopping.
