Bank Millennium recognised for availability of its website to disabled persons.
Bank Millennium was recognised in the “Website without Barriers” competition for adapting its website to the needs of disabled and elderly persons and those threatened with digital exclusion.
Audits of the website and of internet banking with a view to their availability to handicapped users are carried out in the bank regularly every few months. The bank’s website is under continuous scrutiny by specialists from Fundacja Widzialni foundation and all suggestions or issues reported by users are given high priority and are developed on a regular basis – Ricardo Campos, Director of the Electronic Banking Department in Bank Millennium said.
Improvement of website availability is one of many actions undertaken by the bank to enable all customer groups to use the services. So far improvements have been made as regards i.a. adapting cash machines to operation by persons with visual and motor impairments; improving telephone service and the method of signing agreements as well as providing handicapped persons with access to branches and introducing standards for service of handicapped persons.
The “Website without Barriers” competition organised by Fundacja Widzialni and Szerokie Porozumienie na Rzecz Umiejętności Cyfrowych is the only such initiative in Poland. It promotes enabling handicapped, elderly, the less well-off and those threatened with digital exclusion to have fully-fledged access to information in the Internet and aims to promote an attitude of building www services specifically to counteract digital exclusion and discrimination in access to information.
