Bank changes its name
Shareholders of BIG Bank GDAŃSKI decided to change the name of the Bank to Bank Millennium SA.
On 18 December 2002 an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of BIG Bank GDAŃSKI S.A. was held in Warsaw. Present at the meeting were shareholders representing 604.941.246 shares, i.e. 71.2 % of the Bank's share capital.
The shareholders took a decision to change the name of the Bank: from BIG Bank GDAŃSKI S.A. to Bank Millennium SA.
The change of the name is a decision the Bank made in result of a comprehensive market study, which showed high level of Customer acceptance for the proposed name. The new name reflects more precisely the business value system offered by the Bank, while at the same time it constitutes foundation for further development. This change shall also provide for more efficient marketing actions of the Bank based on a logical brands architecture.
The name, Bank Millennium shall act as an umbrella brand for the entire Bank, while specialised business lines will be offering their products under their own segment brands: Millennium (service for individual customers), Millennium Business (service for small companies), Millennium PRESTIGE (private banking) and Bank Millennium Corporate Banking (service for mid- and large-corporate customers). Changing the name of the Bank is a next step of execution of a program designed to adapt the Bank to the changing market situation. The key elements of the process are: introduction of a new market segmentation and creation of new business lines, implementation of a new operating system, modernising the product offer, reconstruction of the sales network, and development of automatic distribution channels.
The shareholders also took a decision to change the Bank's Articles of Partnership in order to adapt the provisions to the regulations and interpretation of the Banking Law.
The shareholders chose professor Marek Belka as the last required member of the Supervisory Board of the Bank.
