#MobilnyPortretPolaka – here comes the “heavy user”

Who is a “heavy user” of a smartphone? It is a person who uses a smartphone so often as to never even part with it. The smartphone is taken to bed, used during meals and to keep a non-stop presence in social media. The user is happy to resort to mobile banking. Female or male – irrespective of gender we use the smartphone just as much and often.
The #MobilnyPortretPolaka survey shows that four out of ten smartphone users practically never part with the handset. There are many more ‘heavy users” among young people – such affinity to a smartphone is declared by close to 60% of people aged 18-29. A true “heavy user” has more acute feeling about leaving home without a smartphone than without a wallet. This is what 65% of them declare.
Women use smartphones just as often as men do. 38% women and 37% men practically never part with their smartphone.
Persons using smartphones most of all i.e. the “heavy users”, do not part with the phones in many day-to-day situations. 65% of them admitted that every day they take their devices to bed. Four out of ten heavy users watch television at the same time as using their smartphone; more than one out of three take it also to the toilet and slightly less than three out of ten use their smartphone during meals.

Interestingly enough persons using a smartphone less often are also interested in banking on the phone (40%).

- Smartphones today are something more for us than just a communication tool. We treat them emotionally because putting a smartphone into a pocket we bring along our life, family and friends. We store memories in them; they guide us when travelling the world. Thanks to increasingly innovative functions and apps they are an instrument for many everyday activities. They are our bank, shop and government office. Such apps as goodie will allow us to find the best deals and create shopping lists. Banking apps may be used to handle financial business easily and quickly – now it takes merely minutes to get a loan and have additional money on the account. And considering such fast technology development this may be only the beginning. – Iwona Jarzębska, Director of the Public Relations Department in Bank Millennium, said.
