#finanseprzyszłosci - e-administration i.e. e-bank for everyone

Results of the #finanseprzyszlosci survey carried out by IBRiS for Bank Millennium show that the Poles are seriously thinking about getting their official business handled by means of electronic banking channels. Close to 90% of them think that in 10 years it will be possible to get most of the official business done this way, with PIT tax returns, Family 500+ applications and checking pension contributions paid to ZUS being the most popular.

- Without any doubt participation of banks in development of e-administration is significant. Making use of well-developed IT infrastructures we have considerable possibilities to support the authorities in this respect. By integrating access in our system to many – also non-banking services, we allow customers to have easier and safer use of the changing environment. Today already 45% out of more than 1.5 million Trusted Profiles, which are a gateway to e-administration, have been set up via electronic banking systems. In Bank Millennium alone close to 74,000 customers* did this. Such great interest does not only give us great satisfaction that we faced customers’ needs head-on but is also proof that such activities are needed and should be developed. – Halina Karpińska, Director of the Electronic Banking Department in Bank Millennium, said. – At the same time we keep educating customers in the formalities, which can be taken care of without having to go to government offices. The survey shows that awareness of already available solutions is not widespread yet – she added.

What business can be done remotely in electronic banking channels?

  • Submitting an application in Family 500+ programme – according to 80% Poles such an application can be submitted in banks’ transactional systems today; in 10 years already this will be possible according to 90% of persons polled
  • PIT tax return – more than 88% respondents are of the opinion that this service is available in internet or mobile banking already today; 94% think this will not be possible before 2028
  • Business registration – close to 70% persons surveyed are of the view that this is possible now, while 90% expect this to be possible in 2028
  • Availability of application for a personal identity card is assumed by 56% of those surveyed; in 2028 this is already 80%

What official business will be available via a bank in 2028 (data in per cent)?

Banks understand perfectly well that they need to keep adding non-banking services to their offering. Digitalisation of traditional products has basically taken place already and in the nearest future we will be witnessing an even faster process of expanding the offering of banks to include non-core business services. According to Deloitte’s “EMEA Digital Banking Maturity 2018”* survey the future of modern banks involves even more intensive development of own products and platforms as well as widespread introduction of non-banking services. The three Polish banks, which deserve the title of digital maturity leader, include Bank Millennium, which understands the nature of open banking as well as the benefits, which come from offering services that have absolutely nothing to do with banking.

Survey metrics: the survey was carried out by Instytut Badań Rynkowych i Społecznych IBRiS for Bank Millennium from 27th November to 1st December 2017 on a representative nationwide sample of 1000 Poles aged 18 – 60 who declare that they have a bank account. Survey technique: CATI.
