Artificial intelligence at the Science Festival in Warsaw

Is artificial intelligence more intelligent than man. Does it make people’s daily lives easier or rather is a threat? These and other questions will be answered by events from the “Artificial Intelligence” series during Warsaw’s Science Festival.
- Bank Millennium was pleased to become a sponsor of a thematic series about artificial intelligence. We like to share knowledge presenting its achievements to the general public. We are a digital bank which is about to offer chatbots and robo advisory unique technologies with elements of artificial intelligence, as services to customers – Adam Mańka, Director of the Applications Development Department in Bank Millennium and one of the participants of the “Artificial intelligence: a major breakthrough or much ado about nothing?”, said. The debate is to take place on 23 September at 5:00 p.m. in the old BUW building at Krakowskie Przedmieście.
The Science Festival, which will be held on 21-30 September in Warsaw, is a treat for all fans of science regardless of age. Awaiting the participants is close to a thousand fascinating lectures, demonstrations and workshops. The “Artificial Intelligence” series will include a dozen-or-so debates i.a. about autonomous machines, artificial brain, contracts written on blockchain as well as medical robots, which are the future of medicine. Looking equally interesting is the presentation of the Mars rover, a presentation of industrial robots and use of virtual reality in pilot training.
- Artificial intelligence has been spoken about for more than 60 years. Over all these years many technological barriers were overcome and it seems that we are about to cross another one. Computing power and volumes of data available for processing are growing rapidly. Data increment worldwide is 220GB/s. This is an incredible rate and potential for artificial intelligence. What is already happening confirms that artificial intelligence in its many forms (from simple algorithms, through machine learning to neuron networks) is bread and butter today – Adam Mańka added.
We come across artificial intelligence in everyday life in online shops when we receive recommendations to buy this or other book. Artificial intelligence has a presence in art (music or graphic creations), forensics (image recognition), journalism, medicine and chatbots. In banking it is used in antifraud analysis and when taking credit decisions.
Additionally the festival events for families over the weekend will include “Financial ABCs”. Bank Millennium Foundation invites children to attend these workshops, which will be arranged in specially prepared areas in the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Warsaw University of Technology and in Polish Academy of Sciences Congress and Conference House in Jabłonna. Kids will find out there i.a. where money comes from, why it makes sense to save and why you cannot have all the toys in the world.
