An audience of more than 92 000 in six cities in Poland: Warszawa, Wrocław, Gdynia, Katowice, Bydgoszcz and Lublin came to see documentary film shows and events accompanying the Festival. At the same time we invite you to the next edition of Poland’s biggest documentary film festival. The 17th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival will take place on 8-22 May 2020!
Cinema rooms were packed!
1000 shows, 156 films, meetings with 80 film makers and characters, debates and music events. Polish premieres of the most acclaimed titles and films from the most recognised documentary film makers. New films from Werner Herzog, Sergei Loznitsa, Amos Gitai, Vitaly Manski, Wiktor Kossakowski, Peter Jackson, Agnès Vardy who died recently, a diversity of subjects of the films about psychology, art, science, sports, architecture, fashion and a strong representation of female directors and subjects relating to women.
It was the very rich and carefully selected Festival agenda that attracted the record-high audience to the screens! The full-length documentary film, a form of cinematic art consistently promoted by Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, is gaining an increasing audience all over Poland! This year no less than 52% viewers attended the Festival vs. last year!
This year’s edition of the Festival was accompanied by the slogan: See if you understand the world and if the world understands you. 42% more people responded to it than last year in terms of tickets sold. The total number of tickets alone for the festival film shows was at the record level of 88 000.
Millennium Docs Against Gravity for the first time in Katowice and records in every city!
The 16th edition of the Festival took place on 10-19 May in Warszawa, Wrocław and Lublin, in Gdynia on 15-24 May, in Bydgoszcz on 11-19 May and for the first time in Katowice on 12-19 May - thanks to cooperation with Silesia Film.
In as many as three festival cities interest in the Festival increased approx. 50%! In Warszawa alone we registered more than 46% higher interest in the film shows than last year! In Wrocław the audience increased no less than 51%! Meanwhile the Gdynia edition of the Festival was attended by no less than 47% more viewers than last year.
In Bydgoszcz 34% more viewers than last year visited the Festival, while in Lublin an almost 25% audience measurement increase was observed.
Millennium Docs Against Gravity has no barriers - not only in geographic terms! This year the films were available to everyone, including blind and deaf persons. Thanks to the support of Bank Millennium and cooperation with Change Serviceplan advertising agency, selected films were available with audio description and voice overs available in the AudioMovie app.
The concept of Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival evolves in order to respond to the growing interest in documentary films in all Poland.
