New audience measurement record on 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity!29.05.2019
More than 92 000 people attended the 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. This number represents a 52% growth over last year. Never before has there been so much interest in documentary cinema in Poland. Last year the event was visited by an audience of 65 000 in all the Festival cities. Since Bank Millennium became the festival’s naming rights sponsor i.e. since 2016, the turnout increased by more than 100% (the audience in 2016 was 42 500). Bank Millennium has been supporting the Festival since 14 years.

On 16 May in Teatr Studio in Warszawa a gala ceremony was held at which 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival awards were given. The Grand Prix went to the Macedonian film “Honeyland” directed by Lubomir Stefanov, Tamara Kotevska. The award was given by Wojciech Rybak, member of the Management Board of Bank Millennium, who was represented the naming rights sponsor.

On May 18 at Teatr Studio in Warsaw took place the Award Ceremony of the 15th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. But it’s not the end of the 15th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival – we still have a weekend of exhilarating film and events ahead of us during the last festival weekend in Warsaw, Wrocław and Lublin. The Gdynia edition takes place until May 25, and the one in Bydgoszcz until May 26.

For the second time in the history of Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival documentary film shows will be made in virtual reality technology (VR). This will be an unusual 360° journey to remote places of the world and also into space and ocean depths. The viewers will be able to have these mindboggling experiences in Warsaw, Wrocław and Lublin. The shows will be sponsored by Bank Millennium.

On 13th of March, a press conference was held in the Polish National Film Archive - Audio-visual Institute, revealing selected hits from the programme of the up-coming 15th issue of Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, the largest documentary film festival in Poland, supported by Bank Millennium as patron for 13 years.

The Main Competition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival for the Grand Prix – Bank Millennium Award and 8 000 euros was won by “Last Men in Aleppo” directed by Firas Fayyad. The award was given by the following jury: Agnieszka Traczewska, Mariusz Grzegorek and Jan P. Matuszyński. The award is funded by the Festival Sponsor: Bank Millennium. The Award was presented on Bank Millennium’s behalf by Wojciech Rybak, Member of the Management Board. Additionally two films received special mentions: “The Good Postman” (dir. Tonislav Hristov) and “Safari” (dir. Ulrich Seidl). “The Good Postman” received the Lower Silesia Grand Prix. In Wrocław also the film “Last Men in Aleppo” by Firas Fayyad received a special mention.
14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival launches11.05.2017
Today on 11 May the 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival is getting started! The opening show “Bez tytułu” by Michael Glawogger and Monika Willi. The programme includes premieres of acclaimed Polish films as well as VR cinema!
The opening film will be Michael Glawogger’s last production: “Bez tytułu”, completed two and a half years after his tragic death by Monika Willi, his long-standing film editor who edited the footage, following the director’s notes, which he had been making while filming. Monika Willi will be the special guest at the opening show of 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity, which will be on 11 May at 7.30 p.m. in Warsaw’s Kinoteka. In the Polish language version of the film the narrator’s voice will come from Magdalena Cielecka.
